Head out on the highway easy

The desert takes the byway sleazy

Never take a strangers ride

If you do then woe betide

He’ll take you to a dark confide

And in a flash your open wide

But just as you begin to scream

From nightmares wake an endless dream

Then memories come back to haunt

The assassin’s knife is there to taunt

Through the desert motor glide

Find a place to rest inside

The lonely road to nowhere slide

Beneath the sun all life has fried

Hell on earth has taken hold

The fire burns the night is cold

Come to terms it’s just a fact

The desert heat creates abstract

So that your mind cannot react

All the world against you stacked

The open road that takes you there

To no man’s land and just beware

The madman plays he's evil tricks

Just to get he's bloody kicks

With serpents kiss and deadly sting

He takes a life and then can bring

The things once lost back into view

Transcend the lies find what’s true

You’re just another crazy baby

Lost in a world of empty maybe

The empty town you left behind

The suns reflection made you blind

And now you’re almost out of fuel

He’s caught you in an endless duel

He feeds off all the mindless fools

That follow him like restless ghouls

Now sanctuary has come too late

For you he set the final date

But truth has given the upper hand

Once moving through the ancient land

You hide from any human trace

You just escaped the bullshit race

Polarized modern commercial waste

This was how you life was based

All of the crap and lies you faced

Are distant in your wanton haste

To find a common distant view

With someone old or someone new

Now hell on earth you left behind

To be someone not one of a kind

Alone you ride into the night

The dancing shadows, fading light

Ghosts that roam the arid sand

Can take you to their sacred land

If you can see passed their sad plight

And join their noble wanton fight

And as you search for distant dreams

That seemed so real you heard the screams

Awake from nightmares that never end

All hope is just around the bend

The rear view mirror you look to find

The monster follows close behind

So when you run, you must take care

This evil spirit you must beware

He'll set the trap’ he'll sets the snare

He'll want to take you to his lair

Then torture till his heart’s desire

And cast your soul into the fire

His only thought to end your days

And this can happen in many ways

The truth you learned may come too late

Now that the madman set the date

His heart and soul had turned to hate

The devil decides your final fate

But the endless road can turn the tide

When you follow the route supplied

You look to where the eagles fly

High above in the clear blue sky

They'll  take you to a distant place

Where you can hide without a trace

The sacred mountain and open plain

Heat of the sun you go insane

Nature’s primal way ahead

The vulture feeds on all that’s dead

He strips the flesh and leaves the bone

His time has come your just alone

Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide

Without water you could have died

But hope was found and then supplied

The Shaman’s voice that never lied

You crawled into an empty cave

And nothing more could only save

Forgotten dreams, unmarked grave

A hiding place for those once brave

You found an answer here at last

Look in awe at man’s lost art

And hope we make the righteous start

From here we take the road back home

To start afresh and not bemoan

All of the things that went before

All of the things we never saw

All of the things we never said

All of the things we left for dead

All of the things we never heard

All of the things that are absurd

All of the things that give us life

Until the stranger wealds the knife
